March YTD Real Estate Stats Announced
The March YTD statistics for Peoria area home sales were just posted on the PAAR web site. For Peoria Co., there were 345 closed sales for 2009 vs 464 for 2008. This is a decrease of about 25%. The fact that the numbers dropped should not surprise anyone, but the decline in Peoria is much less than in other parts of the country. And remember: 345 is not zero! Sales are down but not out. The most active segment of the market right now is the area under $100,000. Much of this market segment is made of first time home buyers enticed by the low interest rates and the $8,000 tax credit. But, I think that this will start to spread and other segments of the market will soon start to pick up.......
